Not an issue if you're planning on dining in, but beware--online ordering DOES NOT work. We wanted a quiet evening at home, so we ordered two meals to go. When we got there to pick up our food, we were informed that online orders don't go through and that we'd have to wait another 15-20 minutes for our food to be prepared. No discounts or attempts to make up for the inconvenience. Di Rito's, please either take the option off your site or get it fixed. Unprofessional and very frustrating. The food itself was average. Steak, fettuccine and bread were all pretty bland, but portion sizes were decent for the price. We would have loved some tiramisu for dessert, but were told they didn't have any. I'd like to do an updated review if we dine in and try more of the menu, but after tonight's experience, I'm not in a rush to give them more of my business.

Great food friendly service. Authentic Italian cuisine. I had the pizza calzone which was very tasty served with a green chile and red sauce. 2 others had the gluten free pizza which they said was excellent!

I had a good meal here - ravioli and meatballs. The sauce wasn't delicious - but tolerable good in small doses. The ravioli was good as were the meatballs. It was somewhat pricey for ravioli, and the inside of the restaurant wasn't beautiful or anything, but still it was a good experience overall.

Travelling thru with an overnite in Canon City. We found Dirito's to be good food at an excellent price with a very friendly wait staff. 2 of us ate with wine & dessert for less than a single entree in Aspen. No complaints, and I recommend it.

    Try the Oli Uli

Want to experience a successful family-owned restaurant? Want conscientious service at a very modest price? Oh, by the way, want a great pizza? Don't drive through Canon City without stopping at Diritos. The family has been in the restaurant biz for over 50 years and grandpa came over from Italy. P.S. Yes, they make their own dough.

Yum! Great pizza and pasta. Came in after rafting the Arkansas river after our guide suggested it. Very reasonably priced and very friendly. Our table had the chicken fettucini alfredo, pepperoni calzone and meatball calzone. The crust on their calzones (and I'm assuming their pizza as well) was delicious. Tried the pasta too - very tasty. 4 stars because they were a little scattered. The pasta was ordered with baked cheese, but they forgot. But truthfully they were so nice about it and so quick to take it off our bill that no one was too upset about it. A definite stop I'd you're in Cañon City, Colorado.

Pretty good Italian food. 10x better than Merlinos Belvedere!

By far the best Italian food in Canon City! Quality food in a casual atmosphere, that's always consistent. Unless you're looking for an amazing steak, I would recommend this over Merlino's Belvedere- it's just as delicious and a lot less expensive.

I've had decent food every time I've been to DiRito's. Nothing has been spectacular though. Service is top notch.

I agree with Justin C. Dirito's is much better than Merlino's. Dirito's is a good little place to grab some Italian food in the Canon area. Sadly, there aren't many Italian places to go in what use to be a dominant Italian city! The servers here are friendly, and usually know whats going on with the menu. I like their gnocchi and calzones the best. Their salads are good too. As a whole, I like this place. I would recommend it to a friend.

If you like Italian with chile sauce on everything, by all means eat here. I would never go back.

Stopped in here after visiting Royal Gorge. Service and food were very good. Would eat here again.

I like coming here. Does it have as much to do with tradition (& convenience) as it does with the quality of the food? Perhaps. The place is family owned and the food is good--mostly from scratch. I'll give any place like that a hearty thumbs up even before I taste the food. Add pleasant waitresses, a few decent wines and cold beer, and you have a recipe for success. With pizza, pasta and sandwiches, there's enough to make most folks happy. It certainly does that for me.

Pizza was very good. Nice selection of kids meals fettuccine Alfredo. The house cab wine was pretty decent. Service was friendly. Casual comfortable atmosphere, clean bathrooms. Would definitely return if in the area again.

Eight of us for lunch yesterday after recommendation from a local. Have to believe they had a vested interest in this place food bland no flavor. Wait staff were responsive though. Definitely not going again

Good food with a bit of cheese. Good italian food with generous portions at a reasonable price. The restaurant is decorated with lots of cliche' italian restaurants items, including the obligatory homage to The Sopranos. Now that we have the cheese out of the way, we can move on to the food. The decor may be cliche', but the food is not. This family takes their food very seriously and their love shows through in every bite. When you sit down, you are greeted with fresh bread and roasted garlic. We normally clean that plate before we place our dinner order and commonly get a 2nd one. I can't underline the family atmosphere enough. You will always find the owners at the helm and the service is always impeccable.

Not bad Italian for the middle of Colorado. The Grinder Sandwich was very good. Great marinara sauce. Family had great spaghetti and a so-so pizza. Worth a try.

Great food, Sarah is great! Very friendly and helpful. Real Italian food, not American food service Italian... Calzone, pizza (gluten free crust) and re burger was great!

Being from Denver, we ventured south a couple hours yesterday to buy a vehicle that had a deal we couldn't pass up. While they were prepping it for delivery, we were directed by the sales folks to Di Rito's. Rebekah waited on us, and was super friendly and helpful in answering our menu questions. The food was very tasty and certainly we could tell by the prices we weren't eating in Denver (and that's a good thing)! If you're ever in the area, you'd be remiss not to try this place.

Not good at all!!! Nothing I got was worth eating. The Caesar salad wasn't even a Caesar sald. It was iceberg with Italian dressing and preshredded cheddar cheese. The bread wasn't homemade as promised. The roasted garlic was burned. And that is just the starters!!

I am surprised by some of the glowing reviews of this place. I will say perhaps we were there on a very bad night and maybe this place could be worth your time (although according to some locals we chatted with at a pub and then where we were staying, our experience was the usual). We spent $74 on what all 4 of us agreed was a terrible meal. The white bread laid out as an app was stale, the beef raviolis (my stomach shivered remembering these) were limp and slippery as they were very overcooked, the beef and sauce were flavorless except for a punch of chili flakes at the end and the meatball had a hint of freezer burn flavor. My fiance and father had different dishes than the raviolis and neither of them enjoyed them much. I usually wouldn't mention the 30+ minutes it took to receive our food (because cooking can take time, perhaps they were short-staffed, etc) but to wait that amount of time and to have a meal that tasted like you overcooked your Walmart TV Dinner was disappointing. Positives: The broccoli soup was surprisingly tasty and well done. If you go, get that! The server was polite.

This place is definitely worth trying! The service was excellent, nice atmosphere, great selection and prices. 4 stars because the level of salt on pizza was so high. Perhaps it was just me, everyone else liked it. I will definitely return and just ask them not to salt my dish, an easily remedied issue :) My mom is a vegetarian and we all shared a veggie olive pizza, it was so hearty that none of us missed having meat at all. One other thing I liked is that the dining room was Very clean, bathrooms also very clean, the attention to details made me feel very comfortable. Keep up the great work di ritos!

Four Stars considering the competition in town. Food was surprisingly good. Amanda was very pleasant and helpful. She suggested the spaghetti with green chili & sausage - which was not on the menu. I'll come back next time I'm in Canyon. They seem to have monopolized all the cute waitresses around- which is always a major factor in my reviews.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
